The December 1996 cover story of California's India Currents Magazine was Deonandan's feature on The Magic of India.




The March 14, 2001, issue of Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, featured Deonandan's article on returning "Home to Guyana" on the front page of the travel section. The trip was made to receive the Guyana Prize for Best First Book, one of the Caribbean's most prestigious literary awards.




One of the three cover stories of the July 2002 edition of California's India Currents Magazine was Deonandan's feature essay on US media coverage of the Kashmiri conflict.




The Dec 22, 2003, issue of The Globe and Mail, included Deonandan's full-page feature on 2nd generation immigrant experiences, titled "Which Am I, Truly."
